I’ve never sailed before. Is that a problem?
Not at all. Everybody can enjoy a fabulous holiday on board The Aila regardless of their nautical experience. The crew takes care of everything. You only need to relax and enjoy your holiday. |
What about seasickness?
We recommend that you take certain over the counter medications, such as Biodraminas or Stugeron, for the first few days. |
Do I need any special clothes?
We recommend that you pack according to the season and that extra jacket or windcheater will come in handy in a fresh wind or if it rains. Bring rubber-soled shoes, preferably with a white sole. Deck shoes are ideal, but trainers will also do. |
Do I need to bring bedding?
No. It’s included in the price. |
What do I have to bring?
A NON-RIGID bag or suitcase.
Swim wear and bath and beach towels.
Sunglasses, hat, high factor sunscreen for skin and lips.
Insect repellant.
Comfortable rubber-soled shoes.
Rubber sandals or flip-flops.
Comfortable clothing. A lightweight jacket in summer and a fleece in spring, autumn and winter.
Waterproof clothing.
A recharger for your mobile phone, camera etc., preferably 12 V.
Headlamp
CD’s, DVD’s etc and your favourite books. |
Can I bring my hairdryer or other 220 V appliances?
While under sail or anchored we can use 220 V appliances. Depending on the appliance we can connect the converter (for mobile phones, Ipods etc) or the generator (for appliances such as hairdryers). Each cabin has 220 V and 12 V powerpoints. |
Do I have to bring my own snorkelling gear?
There’s no need, we are fully equipped onboard for snorkelling. We also have two kayaks and a compressor for refilling diving bottles. |
When do we embark?
This will always depend on availability, but a week-long charter will usually board at 8 pm Saturday evening and disembark before 10 am the following Saturday. This gives us time to clean the boat, stock up on provisions and fully prepare for the next group of passengers. |
How do I pay?
To confirm your booking you must make a downpayment of 50% of the total cost at the time of booking, with the balance to be paid by 30 days prior to the trip. Payment can be paid by bank transfer or in cash. |
What extras should I bear in mind?
Bear in mind that our philosophy is “no extras” with the exception of possible mooring fees. |
How much are the mooring fees?
This depends on the port and the time of year. Our boat is totally independent so we don’t have to put into port if you don’t want to. If you want to go ashore for dinner or to go shopping or sightseeing, we can anchor offshore and take you in the Zodiac. |
